The problem
Drivers of autos and trains ought to slow down when driving around blind curves, lest they hit something around the corner. For instance, a rock that recently fell onto the railroad track can cause the train to derail, perhaps causing an environmental problem if the train's cargo was hazardous.
A proposed solution
Required
- a suitably hi-res terrain model
- the road or railroad path
- the braking and acceleration characteristics, both what's physically possible and the cost.
