Maple

Vs the textbook

The nice thing about standards is that there are so many of them; e.g., the definition of the Exponential distribution. The textbook and Maple use reciprocal definitions of the parameter. I'll use the textbook definition.

Notes

  1. To get help on a distribution whose name has another (non probability) meaning, do like this:
    ? ExponentialDistribution

  1. Find when the mode (maximum value) occurs for the Binomial, Poisson (defined on page 116) and Beta (page 165) distributions.
    We'll do them on paper and sometimes in Maple. Note that sometimes it's harder in Maple.
